I suggest it’s time to get lethally serious about doing stuff that actually matters. - HBR bit.ly/yEbit3

Julien Roubinet
Check out this collection of photographs and videos from our friend Julien Roubinet. He currently lives in New York City, but wherever he is in the world, he seems to be drawn to the local surf and skate culture, and always manages to find a way to adapt and capture the most true to life details.
Stay tuned for for an upcoming project between Julien and SALT.

The Lions Mane Jellyfish is the largest jellyfish in the world. They have been swimming in arctic waters since before the dinosaurs (over 650 million years ago) and are among some of the oldest surviving species in the world.
The largest can come in at about 6 meters and has tentacles over 50 meters long. Pretty amazing when you think these things have been swimming around for so long.
They have hundreds of poisonous tentacles that it used to catch passing by fish. it then slowly drags in it’s prey and eats it.
That is terrifying.

2012…first writing and thoughts
About a month ago, my son, Eloi Jeshua, on his way out to school, came running back in the house, as he had forgotten his backpack. I was sitting on the couch looking at him scurry about. He found his backpack and started heading out, but as turned towards the door, he looked at me, pointed to me with his index finger and thumb up, paused and said:
“Papa…Be good, Do I.T. work, Finish it.”
Wow… I both laughed and marveled.
In 2010 my year’s motto was “do not come up with ideas that cause others more work”. 2011, was the year of “learn more about how business works.” 2010, and 2011 were successful in their “nebulous” goals. In 2010 I graduated with my MFA from UTD, and I had a number of ideas come to fruition. in 2011, learning about how business works, I gained insight into what the future of what my future endeavors in Art, Design, and Photography will be.
Which brings me to 2012.
I don’t’ believe in New Years resolutions…but I do believe that so long as your course in life is littered with challenges and stumbling blocks, that you have to be “dConstructed” to maintain your goals…your vision.
So…2012, my little man gave me a framework for the next day, week, month and year…
Be Good: to my wife, my son, my parents, my friends; to those whom which I come in contact
Do Work: act on ideas, on plans, on tasks, on requests, on task, goals
Finish It: make it, create it, ship it, install it, communicate it, share it
…let’s do this.
it is not that a new calendar year is a time for change. it is that usually all projects have just been completed. Time for deConstruction.
